art artifact

Have you ever made an artifact before about the Paralympics if you  haven't listen closely for what to do.   You ask questions to find out more about the Paralympics. you research to find more interesting information about your project like watching videos of reading books . key words are very important because if you use key words it will hook the reader in. you share your thinking to your pbl teacher. Last term I used the brail  machine with a teacher that can use a brail  machine I made a hole lot of words that describe the Paralympics. The learning muscles I used was my determination muscle because at first when I was making a pan flit it didn't work because we could see glue and it was falling apart. I got back up again and tried it again and it worked and I was so happy.

athlete blog post

In class we have been learning about a New Zealand athlete.  My teachers have asked me to choose an athlete to research. I chose Courtney McGregor because she is a famous gymnast and I like to do gymnastics in my own time. Here is my slide: hope you enjoy.

Something that has challenged me is stretching my refining muscle because it has been very tricky researching for information to make a gold level. Another learning muscle I used was my perseverance muscle when learning got tough. My challenge was to get as much of  information I could find. I am proud of myself because I made a sentence that I think Courtney would love to read. I think I have done a great job because I did a great sentence that made me  feel happy. Courtney is the first best in new Zealand. Courtney has inspired me in never giving up and believe in yourself.

seven kites of Matariki

We have been learning to add lost of detail into our writing.
I am proud of me because I used all of my strategies to complete my writing to gold level. Something that challenged me was adding lost of detail to my writing. I really enjoyed learning about the seven kites of Matariki. The learning muscle I used to get out of the learning pit was my perseverance muscle I used my perseverance muscle because I was right down in the bottom of the pit and I felt restless. Today Mrs Ramsay and Mrs H took a work shop for sentence starters and how to end with a good ending for your writing I used all of my perseverance muscle to go back into my writing and make some changes to it.

Long long ago in a lovely country called Aotearoa at the bottom of Te Mata Peak lived a whanau of seven little sisters. There  village had glistening  green  flowing grass  and a swirling shimmering creek that surrounded the village. On the banks of the creek were huge Willow trees whose branches were flowing down and dangling in the crisp clear water. Every morning Ururangi woke up and could hear the Kereru bird fluttering in the Grandfather Puriri tree. Each night under the shiney white  crescent moon the seven sisters would huddle up together around Grandfather Puriris  wrinkly  aged trunk. Ururangi was old enough to make her very own kite, so excitedly she collected the things that she needed, shells, bamboo, harakeke, raupo, reeds and feathers to create her own kite. The seven sisters started to make their very own kites. The first little sister made a kite with bamboo and raupo.
The eldest little sister made her kite out of pink manuka  with eyes of scallop shells. Sister number four   made her kite out of red feathers  with eyes of pipi shells. The wisest  little sister made her kite out of a blue fish-skin kite, with eyes of whelk shells. Another sister made her kite out of  a white-grass plumed kite, with eyes of periwinkle shells. But  Ururangi, the youngest little sister, made a many-colored rainbow kite, with eyes of paua she

Matariki is a new year celebration where family's and friends come together have fun. They play lots of Maori games on Matariki. On Matariki family's and friends go out to a park and at the park there is a big celebration where there is fireworks and lots of food.Fact: Matariki stars comes out in  mid winter. The Matariki group of stars has other names as well like Pleiades.

A couple of days ago we had our own Matariki celebration there were lots of different activities. I got put into the kite making and I was very exited  it was very challenging for me because the string was very slippery to tie a knot also something that challenged me was making the flax straight and in a line.  I really enjoyed working as a team because all of us took part to complete it.

Art

We have been learning about 3-D art. We are learning how to make things look closer and far away in the distants  and make it look realilistick (realistic). To make your art look far away you make things skiner until it look like the vanishing point. The vanishing point is when the end touches. Blending is kind of like mixing and over laping and it makes my art look really cool.
I am proud of my work because I took my time to finish it and it looks like the hills are going up.

Making bread

In Tortara whanou we have been learning about science
We had three different choices to pick from there was milk bread mould . I chose bread because I thought It might be cool to learn about. I have learnt that yeast is what makes bread rise. How it works is that it reacts to make carbon dioxide.

Something that has challenge me is making the bread into a circle because it was very sticky and gooey. What did I learn about being a scientist? I learnt about the different changes in science and how I need to look carefully to see what happens.

Procedural writing
WALT write instructions for the reader to follow
Success Criteria
Give an explanation about how the instructions will help you (introduction)
Write an equipment or ingredients list
Begin each instruction with a verb (an action word)
Use specific vocabulary
Order instructions so they are easy to follow

We are learning to solve problems in technology. my question was what do we need if we are lost in the bush? The first thing we had to do was plan what we were going to make. We had to draw a diagram of what it was going to look like and all the materials we needed.  It was a very big challenge for me  because my plan didn't work out the first time. The handle broke off after I had glued it on. But I persevered and went back into my plan to think of some different ideas and then I  changed the handle part to a square handle and this worked. I am proud of my technology invention because I persevered to make it.

My idea is using a fire to boil water to make it safe to drink. My plan is using two cups and one cup will have little holes in the bottom and when you pour the river water into the cup it dissolves and the clean water go through the holes into the other cup and its clean water and safe to drink.

My writing about animal

I have been learning to put more vocab into the readers head and hook them in to make them want to read more. I used some fantastic vocab in my writing. strolled narrow winding charging terrified dozily. Next time my challenge is to put in some similes. It is kind of like as I sprinted off as fast as a cheetah.

Animal

I woke up on a fine summer's  morning and started getting ready to go to school. As I opened my wardrobe I found a winding,  narrow pathway leading to a magical snowy land  of ice. As I slowly  strolled down the   path towards the icy land a huge white creature started to chase me. I yelled  “Someone help me! Quick! I am in danger!” Because I was too busy trying to run away from the creature, and I wasn't looking where I was going,  I whacked my head on a tree trunk. BANG! I was knocked out cold.It took me about 4 minutes to wake then I started to realise that I had been carried off in to a cold cave.  The giant  paw of the creature was on my chest and it was fast asleep.  As gently as I could I slowly moved the paw off the animal and tiptoed out of the cave. Suddenly he woke up and I started to freak  out. Oh no I don’t know what I am going to do”.So I just thought I will run. Finally I had lost the creature. I was so relieved to lose him. Suddenly I started to hear footsteps
on the ground.Thump tump the footsteps  thumped louder  on the ground. Just then a huge group of animals came charging in I was so terrified I nearly weed my pants.Suddenly Bang bang could that be the sound of a gun.

I ran for my life.As I Sprinted off all I could hear was bang bang It sounded like they were getting closer.Just then everything went  silent. Bang bang right into my leg as I fell to the ground.I was thinking this might  be the end of my life as I dozily closed my eyes.

Name Art

I have been learning how to share something about myself in my art. I used string to make a pattern inside the letters of my name. I chose pink and purple because the colours look good together and they are my favourite colours. Something that challenged me doing this art was putting in the nails because it was tricky getting them straight and making them in the wood so they don't point out the side of the wood. It was also tricky getting the nails to be the same height. I liked using the hammer to bang in the nails. I am proud of my string and nail art because I put in lots of effort.

facts about Gymnastics

I am learning to share  information. Why I chose gymnastics: because I know a lot of information about it. Something that challenged me was finding all of the information. Next time I will put the words first not the pictures.I am proud of my Presentation because I worked very hard on it and I learnt to make a google slide to share my learning.
